Pat Canary was born in South Texas, and as a child she enjoyed sketching faces from the funny papers and designing doll clothes. She did not begin serious painting until later in life. **************************************************************************************************************************** A significant portion of her art work through the years has been oil portraits of family and friends, but in the mid 90's she took several tours to photograph lighthouses, ultimately doing oil painting of many of them. She has exhibited in New Mexico and several places in Arkansas, and has also entered miniature works of art in shows in Arkansas, Montana and Florida. **************************************************************************************************************************** Soon after retirement to the North Arkansas area, she joined the Palette Art League, and continuedto exhibit at the P.A.L.'s Fine Art Gallery in Yellville, Arkansas until her death in 2009. **************************************************************************************************************************** Using soft pastels, painting on glass, wood and rocks were among the mediums she worked in before her death. **************************************************************************************************************************** Pat lived in Flippin Arkansas with her husband, Bill Canary, who is a semi-retired Southern Baptist Minister. They have two grown daughters, Cheryl and Christine, one grandson, Ben, and one great grandson, Josh. |
