Michael Don Fess is not just
a Master Gardener, he is
also a Master at creating
Garden Sculptures that will
distinguish any garden. Born
in Louisiana, Michael and his
family relocated to Arkansas
where he studied Engineering
at Southern Arkanas
University. Michael went on
to earn a B.S. in Physics
before marrying his high
school sweetheart Martha
Sue Wilson and raising their
four children.
With an engineering background Michael Don Fess is uniquely qualified to create large,
breath taking sculptures of all types and his business background led him to create the
RRSS sculpture-lease plan for commercial buildings, he also pioneered the design of
special bits for the air-chisel he uses to create his sculptures, and the use of
construction material "EFS" for large outdoor sculptures. Michael Don Fess is available

ABOUT THE SCULPTOR - - - -

Born 1935 in Haynesville, Louisiana, the eldest
of six children; two brothers and three sisters,

Grew up in Magnolia, Arkansas, graduated
from Magnolia High School in 1953 and
attended Southern State College's engineering
school, now SAU; Southern Arkansas
University,

Received his BS in Physics from Centenary
College in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1958,
Married Martha Sue Wilson, his high school
sweetheart and raised four children in
Shreveport,

They presently have fourteen grandchildren,
Was a successful real estate developer for
over thirty years, awarded CCIM in early
1970's,

Hobbies are tennis, flying, sking, music,
barbershop singing, computer, gardening, art,
and poker tournaments,

Current Chairman of the Red River Sculpture
Society which he and six other sculptors
formed in 1994,

Created the RRSS sculpture-lease plan for
office buildings, hospitals, and public areas,
Pioneered the design of special bits for the
air-chisel he uses for his sculpture,

Pioneered the use of construction material
"EFS" for large out door sculpture he named
"ArtStone",

Created the Golden Heritage Sculpture Program using
"Art Stone" to honor our past,

Inducted into the Regional Sculpture Hall of Fame in
1998,Organized the Regional Visual Arts Hall of Fame
in 1998,

Moved to Little Rock in the fall of 2001,

Arkansas League of Artists Director 2004-2005,

Master Gardener - Pulaski County,

Speaker at Garden Shows, Little Rock and Pine Bluff,

Chairman - Central Arkansas Horticultural Society,

Current sculpture focus is Garden Sculpture,

Created the Golden Heritage Sculpture Program using
"Art Stone" to honor our past,

Inducted into the Regional Sculpture Hall of Fame in
1998,

Organized the Regional Visual Arts Hall of Fame in
1998,

Moved to Little Rock in the fall of 2001,
