As a child, my dad worked in the timber in the western states and made much of our furniture. Working from plans and copying other's designs is where I began. In recent years, less time in the real world and more time in the Ozark woods has led me to a different philosophy. My original work of gluing, carving, sanding and cutting wood into shapes has given way to working with the natural wood I find in the woods. Instead of forcing the wood into the design of my choosing, I now work with what I find in nature and let that determine my design path. |
Most of my wood comes to me from storm damage, recycled and reclaimed materials. I hope my artwork calls you to touch it, to use it, to be a part of its natural origins and above all, to enjoy it! For more information about Jack's work, e-mail jwdivine@hughes.net. |
